The Mathematics of Waves and Materials Group (formerly Waves In Complex Continua (WICC) Group) is a Research Group based within the Department of Mathematics at the University of Manchester. WICC was founded in September 2010 by Prof. William J Parnell and Prof I. David Abrahams. WICC became MWM in September 2019, a rebranding that fully encompasses all interests of the group, highlighting the fact that we work on the theoretical, numerical and experimental aspects of both materials and waves (of various types including acoustics, elastic, electromagnetic and water waves) and the intersection between these fields. See our research I page for more information and details of our current projects.
The group is funded by various sources including the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the Leverhulme Trust, Industrial Partners and the Royal Society. |
