Engage with us!

In the Mathematics of Waves and Materials Group we use Applied Mathematics alongside ideas from Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering and Physics to model and test the properties of materials and waves.  Collaboration is at the heart of the work we do, and we welcome the opportunity to engage with schools, industry and the wider public.

Schools and colleges

We are developing a range of resources and activities that will bring our research to a new generation of young mathematicians.

Public events

We are committed to bringing our research to broader communities at science fairs and other local events.  Find out about past and future activities.

Learning resources

Find fun experiments and activities to try at home and downloadable resources for teachers.

Meet a mathematician

Watch 60-second videos featuring researchers from our group.

Our research explained

Watch short videos that show how we apply mathematics to everyday problems in our research.

Virtual postcards

Take a look at some snapshots from our research

Get in touch

We are happy to answer enquiries about our research and engagement activities.

Social media

Keep up to date with our news and find out about upcoming events.
