As a group, we have had a long standing and fruitful collaboration with Thales Underwater Systems, leading to numerous projects (see list below). Moreover, the research collaboration was pushed further, with Dr. Phil Cotterill being awarded an Honorary Research Fellowship in the school of Mathematics. Last but not least, 2014 saw the start of our new collaboration, the SMART HUB.

Projects conducted with the help of Thales Underwater Systems:
  • Thales "Amfibious" project (Jun-Aug 2016) PDRA: Ellis Barnwell. Value £10,000
  • Thales Research Smart (Structures, Materials and Acoustics Research Technologies) Hub (2014-2017). Value £150,000
  • Thales Underwater Systems CASE PhD Project (2015-2019), student: Georgia Lynott, value: £26,000
  • EPSRC IAA Scope and feasibility study. (Apr-Oct 2015) PDRA: Ellis Barnwell. £39K
  • EPSRC IAA incubator funding  (Feb-Apr 2015). PDRA: Ellis Barnwell. £8K
  • "Thales Underwater Systems PhD Studentship in Hydroacoustics" (2012-2016), student: David Nigro, value: £44,000
  • "Thales Underwater Systems PhD Studentship in Materials Modelling" (2012-2016), student: Duncan Joyce, value: £44,000
  • Thales Underwater Systems CASE PhD Project (2011-2015), student: Maria Thorpe, value: £26,000
  • Thales Underwater Systems MMath Project (2011-12), student: Duncan Joyce, value: £2,500
  • Thales Underwater Systems Summer Undergraduate Project (2011), student: Duncan Joyce, value: £6,000
  • Thales Underwater Systems MMath Project (2010-11), student: Maria Thorpe, value:  £2,500
  • Thales Underwater Systems CASE PhD Project (2010-2014), student: Vicki Andrew, value: £22,169
  • Thales Underwater Systems Summer Undergraduate Project (2010), student: Maria Thorpe, value: £ 5,000
  • Thales Underwater Systems MMath Project (2011-12), student: Ben Poole, value: £2,500
