ANNOUNCEMENTS
Temporary Suspension of In-Person Schools Outreach Activities
Due to the current COVID-19 coronavirus situation we have suspended in-person workshops for the time being.  However, we are keen to explore opportunities for online engagement.  Teachers can contact us for information.

Making Musical Waves Challenge

Due to the ongoing situation with the coronavirus COVID-19, we have taken the decision to postpone the Making Musical Waves competition.  We hope to relaunch later this year

Teachers can still register interest in advance here

Further details about the competition are available here.

KS3  Seeing Sounds Workshop

Making Music with Maths Workshop

Picture
This is a cross curricular workshop combining creative arts, music and STEM designed to foster curiosity, creativity and exploration in primary age children.  Children learn about the science of sound and vibration, and create a musical instrument.  This workshop supports elements of the KS2 science and mathematics curriculum.

Audience: KS2

Future Activities

We are continuing to develop activities to put mathematics research in context.
We working on cross-curricular, activity-based workshops around the themes of:
  • The mathematics and physics of sound waves
  • Material properties, forces and elasticity
These workshops will combine elements of the science and mathematics curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4, and emphasise the way mathematics underpins contemporary cross-disciplinary research.

If you are a teacher and would like to find out more, please get in touch with our Public Engagement Manager.
